Salma Hayek had her first big Hollywood part in Robert Rodriguez's Desperado. Later her fame grew with Frida and her Academy Award nomination. Hayek has also worked in TV work. She served as the producer in charge of Ugly Betty, one of TV's most popular series. Salma Hayek Jimenez is the daughter of Spanish parents as well as a Lebanese dad. She was born September 2, 1966, in Coatzacoalcos Veracruz Mexico. Hayek was raised in a Catholic, well-off home. As a young girl, Hayek went to a convent-like school located in Louisiana.
